In our merchant's profession, we do many things to help manage our environmental footprint, but the list is never complete as we're always looking for better ways to do things. Recycled packaging, energy efficient lighting in the shipping department, re-using anything that's clean: all these things add up to a considerable savings in resources.
We think that one of the best and influential ways of being Earth-friendly is through volunteerism. Our founder has a degree in Environmental Science, and so really we're never hearing the end of how cool this plant is, or how beautiful that tree is, or simply what a wonderful smell there is in the air today... it's endearing really. And because of all this wonderment, we volunteer as "Nature Guides" and interpreters at our local State Park.
So what can you do to be Earth-friendly and reduce your environmental footprint? Simply asking the question is a good beginning, and as you come up with better answers, take it step by step and make it part of your lifestyle. And if you ever have a few hours to spare, see if there is a place in your community where you could put some of your finer efforts. Few things are more worthwhile than sharing your time.
